Disney Corrupts? Princess as The Sins.

K, this is my first journal entry... ever. Mainly because I can't really be bothered to update. It's like my private diary. That thing hasn't seen action since last year.

Anyway, this journal's about a spark of inspiration I had the other day, at how Disney Princesses could be seen to represent the 7 Deadly Sins. This is a concept that I really want to actually explore, maybe when I finally get my act together and organise a photoshoot of some kind. My theory runs thusly...

BELLE: Belle represents PRIDE. She sings an entire song dedicated to there being "more than this provincial life", and her pride will not let her marry Gaston when he first proposes, which then leads to a chain of unwelcome events.

ARIEL: The Little Mermaid represents ENVY. Ariel spends the first part of her story lamenting that she wants to be like the humans, have legs, walk on land, watch fires burn and so forth. She's not happy with what she already has, she wants what others have.

CINDERELLA: Cinders represents AVARICE. Her story begins with her as a poor, downtrodden servant. Her story ends with her rich and in power. She wishes for this, and it has to be admitted that the majority of her problems are solved by riches and material wealth, NOT love.

SNOW WHITE: Snow White represents GLUTTONY. Her inability to resist eating the apple brings about her downfall. Pretty straightforward.

AURORA: Sleeping Beauty represents SLOTH. She spends decades asleep, enough said.

MULAN: Miss Fa represents WRATH. In her story, she charges off to war out of anger for injustice of the political system; so her father does not have to. She acts rashly and she chooses violence to solve her problems.

JASMINE: Jasmine represents LUST. Two reasons. Firstly, her attraction to Aladdin is what gets HIM and herself in trouble in the first place, and later at the end of the film, Jasmine tries to distract Jafar by 'seducing' him so Aladdin can get the lamp.

So yeah. My childhood is so ruined, lol.
